Ascent Trip ReportSummited from Eagle Creek with Troy Baker. Getting to Crater Lake requires navigating what seems like endless switchbacks on a trail that is nearly overgrown. From Crater Lake we gained the ridge south of a gendarme between Granite and Red rather than up the conventional climbers route which is very steep and a little difficult to locate. Our gaining the ridge sooner was a little unorthdox, but I would choose that route if I were to repeat this hike, we descended the standard scramble trail and I didnt care for it at all. Anyway, this is a long day of hiking from Eagle Creek, and the rough terrain of the final 1000 feet make this a fairly tiring summit.
