Ascent Trip ReportThis was the first peak of the day, and the most challenging even though it had the least gain. We made our way up from the Watchman Overlook parking area along the PCT 'scenic detour' the headed north out of the lot. We began our ascent south of the west ridge, then joined up with the ridge and followed it east toward the summit. We departed the ridge for a walk along the top of a north-side snowfield, then regained the ridge once it split off and started to climb more steeply. There are a few class 3 moves needed near the top, possibly a class 4 right below the summit. Any reasonably confident scrambler should be fine, just mind the rock used for holds; there are plenty of loose ones! Stay away from the side that hangs above the lake, the rock is particularly bad there, and a fall probably wouldn't stop until you hit the water 2000' below!
We descended all the way back to the trail along the west ridge, which is by far a better route than our ascent.
