Ascent Trip Report

Didn't make a reservation, so ended up heading to Abol Campground instead of Roaring Brook, which would end up totally changing my planned hike.

Abol is a rockslide. The ascent was surreal as I couldnt see further than 10yds for a majority of the time spent going up. Gorgeous.

Feet were quite busted after going up as my boots were steeltoed and too small. Instead of going back down Abol, which seems like it would be awful... I went back down Hunt (The AT Trail) which was gorgeous. The sky started to open up about a third of the way down so I could see a bit better. The plateau is gorgeous!

Anyways, was fairly slow coming back down, but it was a throughly enjoyable hike.

Can't believe I'm a 22 yr old Mainer and this is the first time I've done Katahdin!
