Ascent Trip ReportStarted out at Buckhorn Campground and took the Burkhard Trail north. After climbing Will Thrall I continued to Pleasant View Ridge. The HPS guide mentionned a short-cut use trail that starts in the saddle between the two peaks and it avoids going back over Will Thrall. I took the short-cut and that was huge mistake. It's a big detour and the trail is barely visible. It traverses steep scree slopes and is a royal pain in the ass all around. Probably cost me an extra 45 minutes. Next I went up to Pallet Mountain and the heat started to get to me. It was over 80 all day and in some areas there was no breeze. I decided to go back after summiting Pallet. The last two miles of the Burkhard trail back to camp are uphill and much of it is exposed to the afternoon sun. This hike was much tougher than I thought, but it's probably mainly because of the heat. Summary Total Data
