Ascent Trip ReportAccompanied by my good friends Mike Sloyka and Greg Brown, we set out on a pleasant July day to bag both Porter and its close neighbor, Cascade. We left the Route 73 trailhead at about 1:35 and reached the junction of the Porter/Cascade trails in a little less than two hours. Trail conditions were QUITE muddy and the trip would have been appreciably quicker but for a fair bit of bog-jumping we had to do on the way. The trail to Porter was PARTICULARLY wet, though I'm glad to report that there were no bugs or other hindrances. Once we reached them, both the lesser and principal summits of Porter offered astounding views of the surrounding High Peaks region. Summit conditions were windy and clear...
