Ascent Trip Report

This trip included an OGE run, a quick ass-fattening stop in Waterbury, and a night in Stowe, VT with my dad. After dropping into the Stowe old people coffee group with Huck, we started climbing Mount Mansfield, the hard way. We drove through Smuggler's Notch and through the backwoods to Stevensville. The trail just started going up, big time. Dad only made it to the nose, while Huck and I went all the way to the chin. Huck bailed and went down through the ski area, while I went back to Stevensville. The summit of Mansfield was very impressive, lots of alpine veg, and amazing views all around. Hard to believe I was skiing there several months prior. Props to my dad, there aren't too many other 61 year old guys who would do that. This route up was much steeper than previously expected.
