Ascent of Ellemeham Mountain on 2010-07-18
|Date:||Sunday, July 18, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4659 ft / 1420 m|
Ascent Trip ReportVisited this summit at 9:00pm and was treated to a dramatic silhouette of Chopaka Mt. to the west. In the fading light, it certainly appeared that the 1420 point is the highest one, but I visited the other two 1400 contours just in case.
A cow almost got me on the Ellemeham Mt Rd. As I was driving, I suddenly saw movement on the steep slope to my left. In my rear view mirror, an out of control cow slid and careened into the road right behind me. I don't think my heavy duty front bumper would have been enough.
I talked to the resident of the trailer near the shipping containers, and the "No Trespassing" sign. Russell said that only property owners are supposed to go up the road, but he doubts anyone really knows who's an owner or not. He knows Bliss who guided Klenke and he agreed that he wouldn't bother someone who was respectful during their visit. A gift from the grocery store for Russell might be good for future goodwill.
