Ascent Trip ReportCross country hike from Cabin Lake to the south.
Briefly: From Merritt drive Hwy 8 west for about 11 miles to Petit Creek Road. Follow this generally heading south and west for about 35 kilometers to an unmarked spur east of Cabin Lake. This rougher road leads to Cabin Lake in about 2 miles. From the lake head north through small trees and open meadow uphill. Catch the south ridge line and follow it to the summit. Note: Stoyoma has two summits-the southern one is highest. From the spur this is an easy dayhike. A more extensive description of the route and the area can be found in "103 Hikes in Southwestern British Columbia" 6th ed. by Bryceland and Macaree.
