Ascent Trip ReportAt around 9 a.m. on Tuesday my fiance and I took off from the Adk Loj and headed for Algonquin. It was somewhat muddy but nothing too bad. We knew there was going to be rain ahead so we were hoping to get in Iroquois as well. The major steep part was one of my favorites! Once we got to the top (which seemed like it took forever) we were met by a summit steward who chatted with us for a while. She showed us a nice spot to get out of the wind so we could enjoy our lunch. We saw the clouds rolling in so we decided to head on. Well on our way down to the herd path to Iroquois it began to rain hard, and coming at us horizontally and really fast. Once we got to the tree line we thought we would be ok, but that was not the case. We were walking in pure mud and marsh, with the wrong type of shoes of course. Once we got to Boundary it looked too dangerous to continue, so we decided to turn around. Algonquin was just as windy and foggy but less rain. We headed down very slow and did some crazy maneuvering, but we survived!
