Ascent Trip ReportWife and I completed this hike. Left the Champney Falls parking area off of the Kancamagus Highway at 0820 via the Champney Falls trail. We took the optional Champney Falls loop to check out the loops. Then continued on the Champney Falls trail to the summit via the Piper Trail. After reaching summit, left via Brook Trail, taking the Bad Weather Trail back to the Piper Trail and then the Champney Falls trail to the parking arriving at 1400.
Parking lot had 3 or 4 cars when we left at 0820. Lot was full with cars parking on grass and some along highway at 1400. Passed alot of people on the trails and there were probably 30-40 people on the summit and the surrounding surface. Trails seemed to be in good shape, but not enough experience to know how they compare to other trails. Weather was decent: warm, overcast, only slight amount of rain drops. On summit, only views available to southwest. The rest was fog/low clouds filling the valleys.
