Ascent of Rainy Ridge-North Peak on 2010-06-27| Date: | Sunday, June 27, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Hi-Clearance Vehicle | | Peak: | Rainy Ridge-North Peak | | Location: | USA-Washington | | Elevation: | 3120 ft / 950 m |
Ascent Trip ReportFrom Ant Mtn, we took the road past the corral. Another low use road but decently passable. Following just the mapped roads here and with no access issues. Take the turnoff on the N side of Sugar Lake rather than the one further on at the saddle as the latter has been swallowed by the brush. We scared off a small bear on the drive up. We drove the road to the ridge crest. Then just through the brush to the top, sort of passing over a sub-summit on the way. The brush wasn't bad, but brush is never good and there is not much to recommend this peak. A little bit more open terrain by sticking slight further N on the return.
