Ascent of Freeland Mountain on 2010-06-27
|Date:||Sunday, June 27, 2010|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||4581 ft / 1396 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI drove to Freeland from Flat Top using the Chrome Ridge Road. Lots of erosion bars on the road so it was slow driving. I parked at Freeland Saddle and hiked cross country up to the summit. Open country with small brush and some burned trees. The rhodedendrons were in bloom, so it was a nice little hike. The primary benchmark was missing from the summit, but I found a couple witness markers that are marked "Chrome". Nice views from the summit. I could see Mt McLoughlin, Pearsoll, and Preston to the south and also into the Kalmiopsis Wilderness.
