Ascent Trip ReportMy hiking partner and I set out for this hike despite the rain that had hit the area recently. The weather forecast was calling for only 10% chance of rain so we gave it a shot. While it was only a bit misty at the beginning of th hike, the trail was exceptionally muddy from the prior days' rain. The open rock face was slippery in places and there were areas where the trail looked more like a stream than a path.
The trip was slow going, especially the part from Giant to Rocky Peak. The distance was only 1.3 miles (one-way) but very steep and slippery. The ascent up Giant was 3 miles (one-way) on the Zander Scott trail. Total distance was 8.6 miles. The hike took us about 8 hours to complete.
There were no views from either Giant or Rocky Peak due to low clouds. About 1/3 of the way down Giant, though, the clouds opened up and we got some decent photos.
