0.0 Ohio-Indiana State Line Road, where IN 26 becomes OH 119 – drive south 4.4 Pass through the intersection for Jay-Mercer-Darke counties 7.0 Arrive at the Jay CoHP
The drive along the state line in this area is a roller coaster ride. Closer to the HP, the road passes through some trees to make a nice woodsy drive. Arriving at the HP, I immediately spied the BM on the Ohio side of the road. It is set in an elevated concrete marker. This USGS marker was labeled “Zion No 2, 1932”.
The Jay County HP lies near the road in a farm field. The HP sits 10-15ft above the road and can best be accomplished by walking down the road a short bit to enter the field at a point that more closely matches the road’s elevation. From the most obvious HP, I scanned the field nearby and hiked to other prominent rises. In less than 10 minutes, I was back in my car and on my way to Randolph County.
