Ascent Trip ReportRough wild area and a moderately steep climb.
Read this TR together with the West Royce TR.
We checked out of the Hotel after having breakfast and drove to the East Royce TH in Evans Notch, hwy 113. On the way we checked out the TH'S for tomorrow's point-to-point hike over the Baldface Range.
I left the TH at 9h00 hours, Rose deciding to wait at the TH and not go back into town, said she had reading to catch up on.
At about 2600 feet the Trail comes to a Y junction, right is to East Royce and left to West Royce. I took the right trail.
The rocky first open summit offers good views, the actual summit is further on in the woods and it took some searching before finding the rough trail to the summit. I descended back to the Y junction and continued west on to West Royce Mountain.
"IT'S NOT THAT I'M AFRAID OF DYING, IT'S THAT I'M AFRAID OF TIME ...... YOU KNOW, NOT HAVING ENOUGH OF IT."
