Ascent Trip ReportModerately steep climb ..... 4.4 miles, less than 3 hours RT.
I did a morning climb while Rose went into Gorham after dropping me off at the Imp Face TH.
The TH is located 1 mile south of Dolly Copp CG'S Main Entrance on the east side of hwy #16 ( 5.1 miles north of the AMC Pinkham Notch Visitors Center), limited parking only.
The actual summit is a few minutes up-trail past the super lookout, to the left in the woods where the trail starts its steep descent on the way to the Carter Moriah Range.
The view to the west, from the Imp Face Lookout, of the huge valley with the Presidential Range and its Great Gulf Wilderness as a backdrop is simply outstanding and definitely worth the effort, even if you are not after Lists.
Rose was waiting for me at the TH when I came out around 11h00 hours. After getting cleaned up we went into Gorham for lunch, then we drove out to check out tomorrow's TH'S. I will be doing a point-to-point hike over Mounts Crescent and Randolph, so I wanted to ensure that both ends of the hike were well identified for Rose ( something that we do on all point-to-point hikes).
Rose wanted to check out the huge Walmart at Berlin and at the same time pick up some supplies.
Tonight we will overnight at the Moose Brook State Park just west of Gorham, a short distance from tomorrow's start.
