Ascent Trip ReportBeautiful day for a hike. I love it when I get an opportunity for a tan. My fiance and I left South Meadows at 8:40am. It was smooth sailing all the way to Marcy Dam. On our journey we spotted a sweet salamander (or newt I don't know what they are), and took a nice pic. The Van Hoevenberg trail to the Phelps junction was rocky but not too much to handle. Phelps Mountain trail was steep in short stretches but overall a nice hike. Once we got to the summit the views were great, and we ate a nice long lunch on a ledge overlooking Mount Marcy. Headed down and made it back to the car at 3:20pm.
