Ascent Trip ReportBeautiful day for a hike. Started at South Meadows at 8:40am. It was smooth sailing all the way to Marcy Dam. Watch out for toads and salamanders on the trail as they are very plentiful. Van Hoevenberg trail to the Phelps junction was rocky but not too much to handle. Phelps Mountain trail was steep in short stretches but overall a nice hike. Ate lunch on a ledge overlooking Mount Marcy. Make sure to pack the bug repellent, as they can be pretty nasty on the South Meadow truck road in the afternoon. Sunscreen would come in handy at the summit, but most of the trail was very shaded. Ate a nice long lunch then headed back home. Back to the car at 3:20pm.
