|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||14433 ft / 4399 m|
Ascent Trip ReportFlew from NYC to Denver on Friday night. Bought some needed gear for me and my companion on Saturday and stayed in Rinker Cabin at Mount Elbert Lodge. Rose at 6am and started the hike from the Lakeview Campground at 7am. Took about 6 hours for the ascent and 3 hours for the decent. As I was carrying for two, and completely unused to high altitudes, toward the summit I was stopping every 3 or 4 minutes to catch my breath, seemingly to my companion's amusement. The weather was perfect, with zero wind and mild snow. I learned that I packed too much clothing and too little food, especially for a 11.9 mile trip.
