Ascent Trip Report

Morgan is located in the Stephenson Range northeast of Whiteface Mountain, a fairly open easy bushwack ...... it is .4 miles, 30 minute RT from the height of land on the Copper Kill Pond Trail. See Wilmington Peak TR for more information to the start of this bushwack.
I used Spencer Morrissey's guide book "The Other 54" as reference material. The height of land that he talks about is not too clear.

From the actual height of land on Copper Kill Pond trail (don't be confused with the first 3 bumps you go over when your hiking east on the Copper Kill Pond Trail), the evergreen woods didn't appear to be too inviting so I walked back (west) looking for more friendly woods. At about 250 yards I noticed a pink flag just inside the woods (I missed it on the way up), the woods being somewhat open. I chose this as my TH for the bushwack, and as it turned out, a good decision.
I took a due south compass reading, aiming to hit the ridge to the east (left) of the summit. As I approached the ridge I could see the summit to my right so I headed straight for it.
The evergreen woods are fairly open since the bottom branches of the trees are mostly dead, some deadfall and the footing is good. I always took the "easy way", signs of a heard path and of human traffic most of the way. As far as bushwacks go I would class this one as "short and easy". I quickly descended the same route to the Copper Kill Pond Trail.

The summit has 2 bumps about 30 yards apart, the highest (according to my not-too-accurate Eye Level) being the east one. Both are wooded and offer no views ..... not a negative for me since I'm here for peakbagging and not for views. Morrissey says you have to descend to the southwest ridge to open ledges for view of Whiteface.

"DON'T ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT ...... PEOPLE WATCHING MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE."
