Ascent Trip Report

I drove to this one from Negro Ben Mountain. Tallowbox Mountain is a little further out the ridge to the west. I parked along the road on the north side and started following a bermed old logging road that was severely overgrown. I was bushwhacking on the road. It climbed steadily first going east to a switchback and then to the west of the summit where it switchbacked again. I kept following the old road hoping it would lead to the summit, but it finally started heading down and south away from the summit. I climbed the steep slope under a forest cover up to the summit. It is a little brushy on the summit and the high point is in the middle of a California Live Oak tree. going down I went down the east ridge to the first switchback and then followed the road back to my truck.
