Ascent Trip ReportFirst overnight backpacking trip of My Alaskan Summer. A bunch of us from the NPS piled in my good old '85 Honda Accord "Snark" and headed out along the Turnagain Arm to Girdwood, then up to the Crow Pass TH, dodging potholes. It was a pretty hot day as we hiked up through tree canopy and scrub to an old mining site where the vegetation started clearing out. Then came across a nice stream where we kicked back and cooled off in the sun & breeze - delightful sensation. Got up to Crystal lake and then over to Crow Pass where we took in the views of the glaciers. Alpine terrain. Jeremy & Derek climbed a scree-laden local slope. Nice trip.
