Ascent Trip ReportLeft the ADK Loj at 9:20am on 5/7/10. Van Hovenberg Trail was muddy in spots but nice walking. We made it to the Algonquin Trail junction in 20 minutes. The rest of the way was mud, rocks, and wind. The waterfalls were roaring when we got there. The side trail to Wright was slippery on the steep, wet, rocks. We searched around for the bomber wreckage but did not find it. It was extremely windy at the summit, so we hunkered down behind the summit ledge and ate lunch. Contemplated climbing Algonquin for about 30 minutes before passing on an attempt today. We made our way down slowly, avoiding any catastrophes. Back to the Loj parking lot at 3:20pm (6 hour round trip). What a workout!
