Ascent of Mount Sherman on 1990-09-02| Date: | Sunday, September 2, 1990 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Mount Sherman | | Location: | USA-Colorado | | Elevation: | 14036 ft / 4278 m |
Ascent Trip ReportThis was my acclimitization hike for my week in Colorado. I had flown in from Philadelphia the day before, and Sherman was supposedly the easiest fourteener, and therefore a good candidate for my first hike.
I slept in my car below Leavick, and then drove it to about the point marked 11588 on the topo map. I don't remember much about the hike, except it was easy going on roads, old mine trails, and a climber's path on the ridge. Overall a very easy climb. There were nice views across the Arkansas Valley to the Sawatch from the summit.
