Ascent Trip Report***Sierra Club HPS Hike
Leaders: Patrick Vaughn, Markey Neighbors
Peaks: "BIG THREE" DAYHIKE!!.... Santa Cruz Peak (5570'), San Rafael Mountain (6593'), and McKinley Mountain (6200'+) in that order
Stats: 29.4 mi RT, +8,200' gain.
**We shaved off at least 4 miles and 600' gain by taking a cross-country route (marked by ribbons and ducks all the way) from Santa Cruz Peak to San Rafael Peak. Overtime, brushes growing there may obscure this path!
TOTAL TIME (car-to-car): 14 hr 43 min (me). The leaders let the group go at their own pace after the last peak (McKinley). The rest of the group was probably 20-30 minutes back.
