Ascent Trip Report

This hike is much more challenging than the stats would suggest. While the difficult terrain was usually class 2 (with isolated bits of class 3 that could probably have been avoided), it was not a good class 2, with plenty of loose sand and rocks. The wash that curves north to end on the ridge east of Edgar Peak was usually pretty good, but we chose to traverse to the next wash south just before it curved north. That wasn't bad for providing access to the peak, but the lower stretches of it were a real obstacle course with tons of cactus and bad brush to work around.

Given the ordeal, I strongly recommend bringing extra water.
