Ascent of Big Indian Mountain on 2010-04-10| Date: | Saturday, April 10, 2010 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Big Indian Mountain | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 3700 ft / 1127 m |
Ascent Trip ReportAccessed via Biscuit Brook TH, pleasant hike, very scenic following biscuit brook for 3mi. The brook was flowing! Hard to cross. Took bushwack to Catskill 3500 Club summit canister, very easy to follow, only two small humps up and signed in. DEC should redirect the existing trail to this summit using the well-established herd paths, this would cut down on trampling around on the peak. Still some snow up there but very little. Definately No need for snowshoes, microspikes or crampons, a nice blood-pumping hike.
