Ascent Trip Report

From Happy Valley Road near 101 turn S at the 658 junction into the Johnson Creek drainage. Follow this past a DNR gate that seems to be usually open and unlocked. Continue to the fork at 1320' where there are gates on both roads. We parked here and walked the right fork. At 1880' the right turn on the map is more like a straight ahead as the left fork is severely overgrown. Continue on and the way is obvious. You'll switchback right at 2380' heading towards the summit and the road continues most of the way across the 2560+ contour even though the map shows it ending a bit earlier. The HP seemed to be a hair further S than I might have guessed by the shape of contour. The road HP is pretty easy to discern but the true HP is hard to find even by overgrown logging bump standards. Seems to be on the W side of the road near the road HP but I wouldn't swear to it. It's easy enough to get to the area and once there you can pick what you think is highest but you won't really know until the next time this hill is burnt. Another logging P1000 dumpster, hike at your own risk. Or bike since it would work well for that.
