Ascent Trip Report

Rose and I came to Italy to follow the 70th Giro d'Italia (21 stages) ..... today was the 13th stage of the Giro, a 46km "Tappa a cronometro Rimini-San Marino".
We took the time to visit the very small Republic of San Marino, situated in the Apennine mountains, just west of Rimini on the Adriatic Sea. It is completely surrounded by Italia and is the oldest recorded sovereign state in the world. It has a tower on each of the 3 summits of Monte Titano ......Guaita (oldest, built in the 11th century), Cesta (on the highest summit, built in the 13th century), and Montale (on the lowest summit, built in the 14th century).
It is a beautiful place and the view from its Summits is outstanding. We greatly enjoyed our stay (3 nights in Rimini). A great way to enjoy the Giro.

The 13th stage of the Giro was won by Roberto Visentini of the Carrera team, who is also the overall leader after this stage.
The 90th Giro was won by Stephen Roche of Ireland, Canada's Steve Bauer came in 10th, 14'14" behind.
