day 1 arrive Penitentes, arrange gear for mules
day 2 Varcos Valley trailhead of 8000 ft to army outpost 9500
day 3 up valley to 10500 very hot(day) cold at night/windy
day 4 to base camp at 13500
day 5 rest...didn't help getting pulmonary edema
day 6 back down to 9500
day 7 out to trailhead
day 8 spent in Santiago, Chile
