Ascent Trip ReportFrom Hebbronville I drove routes TX-16, FM-3073 and FM-649 to Jim Hogg-Webb County line, which is also the northeast county corner of Zapata County. I parked at the sign and hopped the fence, then walked amid open, scrubby brush to a broad rise covered in oil wells and buildings. This is the Zapata County highpoint. I paced the region a little, then returned to my car. Not too exciting, but at least I got one. After the lack of success so far, anything was better than nothing.
