Ascent Trip Report

Started from the parking lot for the nearby lake. It was a pleasant hike to the lake on a well used trail. The lake had some campers that had been there from the previous night. They were nowhere to be found. I later ran into them on the mountain on my ascent. They were of the mindframe that the peak we were on was not Saint Paul Peak, but all the maps and GPS locations told me I was in the right place. From the top you can see great views of the mountains to the north, included what I think was Snowshow peak, a peak I hope to climb in 2010.
There were a number of mountain goats around the lake, probably 20 or so. Very cool to see, and they were not very frightened of human contact it appeared.
On the way down I did the quick scramble up Chicago Peak. Definitely worth the climb while you are in the area. An fairly easy climb of a unique looking peak.
I later observed both these peaks a year later while driving down the highway on the back side south of Libby. I'd like to climb those peaks I thought, oh wait! I already have!
