Ascent Trip Report

Started at Beaver Brook parking area due to the Gale River Road being closed for the winter. Bushwacked to the via North Gale River Road to Gale River Trailhead. Gradual climb to the Galehead Hut. 22° at hut. Wind began to gust up to 40mph at times. Hike up to Galehead summit 0.2mi. within 15 minutes. Took some photos and returned to the Hut. Headed up 0.8mi. to South Twin Summit. As we cleared treeline the wind began to gust over 60mph about 700feet from the summit. once on the summit winds were gust over 70mph. Gust were recorded on Mt Washington that day at 84mph. We spent about 5-10 minutes on the summit and headed back down to the Hut. As clear as it was on the summit, the wind made it too dangerous for us to take in the views or try and photograph. We headed back down to the hut and had a lunchbreak at 2:30pm, descended at 3pm without any incidents.
