Ascent Trip ReportIn June, 2008, I was part of a 3-person expedition to Mount Fairweather, a high, remote, and snowy peak on the border of Alaska and British Columbia. We were unsuccessful after spending five days on the peak, turning back due to poor route conditions caused by deep snow and too many huge crevasses.
The following links make up a detailed section-by-section journal of the trip. There is a link at the bottom of each page that will take you to the next one.
Introduction: Background to the trip and preparations
June 7-10, 2008: Killing time in Haines waiting to fly to the mountain
June 11-12, 2008: Flying to the mountain, moving uphill, and a storm day
June 13-14, 2008: Ascent to high camp and another storm day
June 15, 2008: Summit attempt and harrowing retreat
June 16-18, 2008: Return to Haines, day trip to the Skagway high point, and return home
